Dear USR Families,
I hope this message finds you well and that your children are settling smoothly into the new school year. As part of our continued commitment to supporting strong literacy development, Upper Saddle River, along with all New Jersey schools, will conduct brief screenings of children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade focused on foundational reading skills. While students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade have always been screened, new legislation now extends this practice to include 3rd grade. In addition, families at all grade levels will receive score reports that summarize student progress and highlight benchmark expectations.
To help families better understand these changes, we are hosting a parent webinar to explain the key components of the LEAR (Learning Equity Academic Recovery) legislation and to review how to interpret the score reports you will receive.
