Dear Reynolds Families,
I hope your summer has been filled with rest, relaxation, and special time with family. We’ve missed our students and are eagerly looking forward to welcoming them back in September. There is so much to look forward to this year, and we are excited to embark on another joyful and enriching school year together.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership. Working together helps us create the most supportive and successful environment for all our learners. I am thrilled to announce this year’s school theme: "Reynolds Rockets are Number One. We Read, We Write, and We Have Fun!" This year's theme was created by second grader Piper Fox.
To help you get off to a great start, I’ve gathered some important information for you. Everything is included in the body of this email for easy access. I hope you find it both helpful and comprehensive.
First Days of School
The first day of school is Thursday, September 4th. It is a half day, which begins at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 12:20 p.m. Please be sure to send a snack with your child on the first day.
Friday, September 5th is the first full day of school (7:55 a.m.–2:30 p.m.). Please send a snack and lunch for your child starting on September 5th.
*Preschool Classes begin on Monday, September 8th.
School Arrival
The school opens for students at 7:30 a.m. each morning. Students arriving early (between 7:30–7:50 a.m.) wait outside their classrooms, where they are supervised by staff members. Teachers open their classroom doors at 7:55 a.m., and children are invited in to begin the school day. The late bell rings at 8:05 a.m. each day.
If you plan to drive your child to school and walk him/her to the front door (parents & guardians may not enter the building at drop-off), you may need to park on the field near Bogert School. Please do not park in reserved spaces. For the safety of our students, I ask that you exercise extreme caution in and around the parking lots and driveways.
If you choose to use the Kiss & Drop lane, please make sure that your child is ready to exit the car quickly to allow traffic to move smoothly. Bus students will be greeted by school staff and escorted to their classrooms.
School Dismissal
It is extremely important that we have all dismissal information in Genesis by August 30th.
Our dismissal plan indicates the location of student pick-up for each grade level:

Kindergarten Students: Exit main doors under canopy
1st Grade Students: Exit side doors near tennis courts
2nd Grade Students:

Genesis – Forms and Teacher Assignment
Your child’s teacher assignment can be found on the Genesis portal. Genesis is open; please log in and complete all required forms. We ask that you submit all forms by August 30th.
Lunch and Snack
Please be sure to send your child to school with a healthy snack and lunch each day. Easy-open containers are always helpful. Due to food allergies, the sharing of food is prohibited. In addition, please note that we do not allow deliveries from outside vendors like Grubhub, DoorDash, etc.
Please label lunch boxes, backpacks, and jackets with your child’s first and last name. If you choose to order lunch through the PTO, it is important to order through their website and pay close attention to their ordering timelines. Their lunch portal opens on August 18th and closes on September 5th.
Children eat lunch by grade level at the following times:
Kindergarten: 11:35–12:15
First Grade: 12:20–1:00
Second Grade: 10:50–11:30

Click the "Notify Attendance Office" found directly under the "THIS WEEK" attendance and assignments summary on the Summary page
Enter an attendance note (reason) describing why the student will be absent

Consistent attendance at school, both in terms of arriving on time and being present throughout the year, is an essential component of a high quality education. Please see our Parent Handbook for more information about attendance.
Parent Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Reynolds Parent Advisory Committee is to provide parents with an opportunity to offer input, be included in the educational process, and to collaborate with the principal - with the ultimate goal of creating a passionate school community that nurtures student development.
Please review and complete this form if you are interested in participating. In order to include a wide variety of perspectives while keeping the size of the group productive, it's possible not all volunteers will be selected this year.
Parent Resources
Throughout the year, you can reference our Reynolds Parent Handbook and access important information using the Reynolds School Website.
Each month, you will receive the Monthly Calendar and the Principal's Newsletter to keep you informed of upcoming events and information. This monthly information will also be posted on the main page of our website.
The Upper Saddle River School District also has an app. Please take a moment to download the Upper Saddle River BOE app called "USR Schools" to your smartphone. It is available in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
Code of Conduct
Our goal is to create a positive climate and a school environment that keeps students safe, ensures students are learning, and treats everyone fairly. Utilizing our school mascot, the Code of Conduct provides positive expectations in the areas of respect, learning, safety, student relationships, and fairness. Social and emotional learning is an integral part of the school-wide curriculum supporting our goal. We focus on themes throughout the year such as citizenship, empathy, problem solving, friendship, and feelings. These principles are essential for helping children foster healthy relationships, become engaged thoughtful citizens, and enjoy productive, fulfilling lives. Please carefully review and discuss our Student Code of Conduct & Guidelines for Misbehaviors together as a family.
