Through thematic design and communicative-based language instruction, this course will prepare students for authentic language use in the real world. In 6th Grade Spanish, students begin to develop proficiency in all four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are expected to attempt to produce the language in class focusing on building their communication skills and confidence

The New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and The American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) recognize three communicative modes for student language acquisitions: the interpretive mode, the interpersonal mode, and the presentational mode. All three modes of communication will be assessed throughout each unit.
