    Teachers College Reading and Writing Project

    1. Mini-Lesson (10 minutes)

         - Direct instruction of reading or writing skill to students 

    2. Independent Work (30 minutes)

         - Students work on the application of the new skill independently, small groups, and/or       partnerships

         - The teacher moves throughout room supporting instruction 

    3. Share (5 minutes)

         - Students share a portion of their work with the class
