    Kindergarten Classroom and School Procedures

    Snack and Lunch
A small healthy snack will be served in our classroom in the morning. Please send in separately packed healthy snack labeled "snack" to school with your child every day. Lunch is at 11:35 a.m. in the cafeteria and weather permitting, the children then go outside for recess. Milk is served during lunch. If you do not choose to purchase milk, you should send your child with a drink for snack and lunch. Please do not send in glass containers.

The classroom door opens at 7:55 a.m. Children may enter at that time, unpack and get settled for the day. Children are marked tardy if they arrive after 8:05 a.m. If your child arrives after 8:15 a.m., please have him/her go directly to the Attendance Office for a late pass.

Please call the school if your child will be absent due to illness. Please notify the school in advance if your child will be absent due to vacation.

School Parties: On or near your child's birthday, you may send in a healthy snack for the class. You may drop off the treats in the morning. Please drop me a note at least one day before you would like to do this telling me exactly what will be provided.

Summer Birthdays: Children who have a summer birthday will have the opportunity to celebrate their birthday in school during the schoolyear.  Please contact me to schedule a day and we can discuss the details.

    Backpacks and Folders
It is important to establish routines from the start of the school year. Be sure to check your child's folder every day for notices from school. Please make it a part of your child's routine to pack and unpack their own backpack (with your help and guidance). Take time to share backpack contents with your child. They are so proud of their written work and want to share it with you.

Labeling clothing, backpacks, lunch boxes and personal items is very helpful. The lost and found box is located outside of the office close to the front doors.

All medications must be given to the nurse if taken during school hours.

    Changes in Transportation
Each child will have a regular dismissal schedule. If for any reason this schedule changes, I must receive a written note from you. Do not rely on your child to tell me this information, because children often become confused and relay messages incorrectly. If no written note is received, (or message left with the main office), your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation. Please do not send me an email with regard to dismissal changes as I may not have time to see the message or I may be out of school that day and the substitute will not have access to my email account. Thank you!
