Children will be expected to follow all classroom procedures during the school year. We will review all classroom expectations at the start of each activity and these will be reinforced throughout the activity. The children are encouraged to become independent thinkers and learners. The children will be responsible for taking care of their own posessions, unpacking and packing their books and snack bags, hanging their coats and bags, and for putting items away after play and work time. The children are always encouraged to first attempt a task prior to asking for assistance. Attendance ~ Due to the short time we have the children and all of the specials and various activites we are involved in, it is imperative that you have your child at school at the designated start time. The AM Session begins at 8:30 am. We will be at the front of the building to recieve the children from your car at 8:25. Remember to let the children out of the passenger side of your vehicle. This will be good practice for next year when the children are in Kindergarten to follow the 'Kiss and Drop' procedure. If you arrive after 8:30 am you will need to bring your child down to the Attendance office to be checked in. The PM Session begins at 12:15 pm. We will be at the front of the building to receive the children from your car at 12:10. Remember to let the children out of the passenger side of your vehicle. Backpack~ Please send your child in with a backpack small enough for them to manage yet large enough to accommodate a notebook, folder, library book and snack bag. Birthdays~ We celebrate the students birthdays during snack time. You may send in a snack for the entire class with your child or drop it off at the front office. In keeping with school procedure we are no longer able to serve supcakes, cake, brownies, donuts, cookies, candy or ice cream. Some suggestions for a healthy treat are fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, fresh veggies, frozed fruit bars, yogert cups, or mini muffins. We celebrate summer birthdays in June. Book Orders~ At the beginning of each month I will be sending home order forms from various Scholastic Book Clubs. It is at your discretion as to which book clubs to order from. Please remember to write a check out to the named book club ( e.g., Scholastic, Trumpet). When ordering from more than one book club, please write a check out to each club. Dismissal~ The AM Session ends at 11:00 am. We will bring the children out the front of the building and will dismiss the children from their lines. The PM Session ends at 2:45 pm. We will bring the children out the front of the building and will dismiss them from their lines. Home-School Communication~ Each child has a Home-School Communication book which will be going back and forth from home to school and school to home. Each day a "Day Sheet" will be pasted in the book which will let you know about the days activities. When there are questions, concerns, information to pass on please write it in the book. Each child will also have a laminated folder. We will send it home with notes, fliers, and any other miscellaneous information from school, the PTO, etc. If there is nothing to go home with your child we may keep the folder here in school. Homework~AM Session will have homework on Monday and Wednesday nights and Show and Tell will be on Fridays. Miscellaneous~ At the beginning of the school year we ask that a full set of clothing is sent in to school. This includes a shirt, socks, underwear, and pants. Please label each item! Snack~ Please send in a healthy snack and drink with your child. Snack time is approximately 15 minutes. Please be sure to send in just enough for a short snack. |
