Subjects
Spelling
New spelling rules and words will be introduced every Monday. The students will be tested on their spelling words every Friday. The list will follow a spelling/phonics rule or theme each week.
Reader's Bookshelf
It is third grade policy for students to read about twenty minutes each night. Reading for twenty minutes is a part of daily homework. The Reader's Bookshelf helps to accomplish this goal. Students are required to read one book each month of sixty pages or more at their individual reading level.
Mathematics
We will be using the Everyday Mathematics program. Students are expected to master a variety of mathematical skills and concepts, but not the first time they are encountered. Mathematical content is taught in a repeated fashion, beginning with concrete experiences. Everyday Mathematics allows students to revisit content in varied contexts, integrating new learning with previous knowledge and experiences.
