Homework is a way of assessing a student's understanding of the concepts learned in class. It reinforces the skills that have been taught, prepares students for new material, and teaches responsibility.

Students are graded based on the number of homework assignments turned in. If an assignment is late or missing, the student must make it up the following night. I will record the student's incomplete assignments and notify them when it is becoming a problem. Three missing homework assignments will affect the student's overall grade. While a student's homework is not formally graded for accuracy, it is graded for effort.

Students are provided with planners at the beginning of the school year. Homework will be written down each day during a designated time.

Students are permitted to have a snack in the morning. Please ensure that your child's snacks are healthy and don't interfere with their ability to work. Some suggestions include pretzels, fresh fruit, cheese, yogurt, and veggies. Please avoid sugary foods and drinks.

Students may bring in a birthday snack, but I must be notified at least one day prior to the celebration. It is important that there is enough for each student in the class and that any necessary utensils/paper products are supplied. Invitations to parties are NOT permitted in school.

Students will be notified about a test or quiz one week in advance. We will prepare for tests in class and will usually receive study guides, but students are expected to study at home once they are notified. I am more than happy to review material during After-School help on Thursdays from 2:30-3:00pm.

Please review the Bogert Student Handbook so you can become familiar with school-wide policies.
